昨今の世の中は、危ういバランスで、それぞれの現場を保っていると言える。
表面上は整然とその場を保っているように見えても、何か一つがズレるだけで、突然崩壊し、大きな事件や事故をもたらす。
科学というものが世の中の全てのものを解明できるという過信は、計測されうるものと自然や人間との間にズレを引き起こし、そのズレは知らず知らずの内に大きな断層として残り蓄積される。それでも世界は均質化の一途を辿り、色々なものは更に規格化され、反復を繰り返すバイナリー信号の数値の並びのように、僅かな違いだけがもたらす表面上の差異だけを必死に競い合う。

JIGは、外形が整然とした幾何学の正円のリングの形をなし、その中に異なる厚さの鉄板が、異なる高さをもちながらバーコードのように吊り下げられた立体である。

極端に単純化された形が、規則的に並んでいる状態は美しい。例えば、誰かのアート作品のように、徹底したストライプの規則性は、それが置かれる固有の（不規則な）場との対比が意味を生成する。だがそれよりは、規則性と不規則性の両方を一つのものが内法するものを作れないかと思った。また、整然と並んでいながらも、ある瞬間、その規則性や整然さが一気に崩壊するような危険性をもったギリギリの状態を、どうやったら計画的に作れるのだろうか？

一見ランダムで適当に吊り下げられたように見える複数の鉄板も、実は以下の３つの要素で、円形のリングが回転しないようにコントロールしている。

(a) 円の中心軸から左右への距離（L）
(b) 鉄板の厚み
(c) 鉄板の高さ

(b)と(c)によって、吊り下げられた鉄板の重さ（W）は変わる。中心軸を境に、左右の鉄板の中心軸からの距離とそれぞれの鉄板の重さを掛けたL x Wの総和が等しければ、外形のリングは回転しないという仕組みである。
また外形のリングは、単純な筒型ではなく、上部から見た際に斜めにカットされた形とした。そうすることで、整然と反復するように吊り下げられた鉄板が、見る角度によって、長さや光の反射量を不規則に変化させるように見える。

JIGは、今後色々な作品へと展開していくコンセプトモデルのようなものである。

In today's world, it can be said that each site is maintained in a precarious balance. Even if it appears to be maintaining its site in an orderly manner on the surface, if one thing gets dislocated, it will suddenly collapse, causing a major incident or accident.
Overconfidence that science can explain everything in the world causes a discrepancy between what can be measured and nature and humans, and this discrepancy unknowingly remains and accumulates as a large fault line. Still, the world continues to become more and more homogenized, and things become more and more standardized, and like the repeating sequence of numerical values in a binary signal, we desperately compete for the superficial differences brought about by only slight differences.

JIG is a three-dimensional element with a well-ordered, geometric, perfect circular ring shape, inside which steel plates of different thicknesses are suspended like barcodes at different heights.

It is beautiful to see extremely simplified shapes lined up in a regular manner. For example, as in someone's artwork, the thorough regularity of the stripes creates meaning when contrasted with the unique (irregular) place in which they are placed. But rather than that, I thought it would be possible to create something that incorporates both regularity and irregularity. I also wondered how one could systematically create a situation where, even though they are lined up in an orderly manner, there is a danger that at a certain moment, the regularity and orderliness could suddenly collapse.

At first glance, the iron plates appear to be randomly suspended, but in reality, the following three elements control the circular rings so that they do not rotate.

(a) Distance from the center axis of the circle to the left and right (L)
(b) Thickness of iron plate
(c) Height of iron plate

The weight (W) of the suspended iron plate changes depending on (b) and (c). The mechanism is such that if the total sum of L x W, which is the distance from the center axis of the left and right iron plates multiplied by the weight of each iron plate, is equal, the outer ring will not rotate.　
In addition, the outer ring is not a simple cylindrical shape, but is cut diagonally when viewed from the top. By doing so, the iron plates, which are hung in an orderly manner, appear to change their length and the amount of light reflected irregularly depending on the viewing angle.

JIG is a kind of concept model that will be developed into various works in the future.
